Weights, sizes and capacities

Container dimensions differ between manufacturers, and the weight of a given material varies considerably with moisture, age and composition. Every figure published here is an approximate working number intended to help you choose a size, not a specification. The dimensions and allowance that apply to your rental are the ones confirmed on your quote.

Regulations and permits

Placement rules differ across the 13 communities we cover, because they genuinely sit under four separate kinds of permitting authority. Corona is an incorporated city that administers its own encroachment permit process for anything placed in a public street or right-of-way, through its Development Services Division / Planning & Development ((951) 736-2262) and Code Compliance Division ((951) 739-4970, CodeEnf@CoronaCA.gov); the Dos Lagos, Eagle Glen and Sierra Del Oro neighborhoods are part of Corona itself and fall under this same city process, not a separate one. Eastvale, Norco, Riverside, Jurupa Valley and Lake Elsinore are each their own separate incorporated city with their own separate permitting process. Temescal Valley, Home Gardens, El Cerrito and Coronita are unincorporated Riverside County communities that fall under the Riverside County Transportation Department, Permits Section (4080 Lemon St, 8th Floor, Riverside, CA 92502, (951) 955-6790). A container placed entirely on private property — a driveway or yard — typically does not require a permit anywhere in the service area, but street or right-of-way placement generally does. We do not publish a specific permit product name or fee for any jurisdiction on this site, because those details change and are best confirmed directly with the relevant permit office before you book. For a Corona address (including Dos Lagos, Eagle Glen and Sierra Del Oro), confirm with the City of Corona; for an Eastvale, Norco, Riverside, Jurupa Valley or Lake Elsinore address, confirm with that city directly; for an unincorporated address, confirm with the Riverside County Transportation Department, Permits Section.

Hazardous materials

Asbestos and lead paint work in California is regulated, and above defined thresholds must be carried out by licensed contractors with proper testing and notification — a rule that matters here given how much older housing stock across southwest Riverside County is being renovated. The California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) and CalRecycle regulate hazardous and solid waste statewide, and asbestos-notification requirements for demolition and renovation work in this part of Riverside County are typically administered through the South Coast Air Quality Management District. Nothing on this site should be read as suggesting that such material may be placed in a container or handled without the required testing, licensing and notification.
